Responsive Subtitles for Netflix is my browser extension

Problem

When I watch a film in English without subtitles, there is a complete concentration on the speech of the actors, but unfamiliar words are skipped because I cannot find their translation.

When I watch a movie in English with English subtitles, I translate the words separately, out of context. In this format, the brain no longer recognizes by ear, it is easier for it to read the text of the subtitles.

Watching a movie with subtitles in your native language is the worst option, it has all the drawbacks: unfamiliar words are ignored, and the brain just reads.

Therefore, subtitles should appear as needed.

Idea

The essence of the idea: to watch a movie without subtitles, and when faced with unfamiliar words, take a small step back so that the player turns on the subtitles of the movie language.

Further, if you are let down not only by your hearing, but also by your memory, you take a second step back, the player shows both foreign subtitles and subtitles in your native language.

That is, most of the film you listen to intensely, in incomprehensible moments you get subtitles, and the actor repeats new words several times.

Decision

The choice of the popular media service fell on Netflix, and the implementation option fell on a browser extension.

Unfortunately, the site does not provide a public API, its code is minified, and interaction with it is difficult. Therefore, the extension may work ambiguously and behave strangely.

Extension in Chrome WebStore

Conclusion

I would be glad if anyone could use my works, I am open to suggestions and constructive criticism. All good!
