Video version of the article:
On June 10, From Software finally revealed the highly anticipated Elden Ring gameplay trailer and announced a release date. If you remember that the game was announced on June 9, 2019 and apart from the CGI trailer for two years we have not heard absolutely anything about the game, the question arises: what was the point of such an early announcement?
It seems that this approach to the release of AAA projects is becoming the norm. Suffice it to recall the loud announcements of The Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield in the summer of 2018 and the subsequent deathly silence of the developers about the approximate release date and release of a somewhat sane trailer. And only at the presentation held on June 13 of this year, Microsoft and Bethesda finally announced the release date for Starfield - November 11, 2022, accompanying the announcement, again, with a not very informative trailer.
Remember also The Last of Us Part II, which came out four years after the announcement; Days Gone, announced in 2016 and only released in 2019; God of War 2018, announced in 2014; STALKER 2; Fable 4; Beyond Good and Evil 2; and, of course, Cyberpunk 2077, which we've been waiting for for 7 years.

Summarize. Today it is becoming the norm to announce a game with a CGI trailer and then remain completely silent for years. It turns out to be a vicious circle: on the one hand, publishers announce games in order to attract people's attention, on the other hand, they are unable to consistently promote them and work with audience expectations. As a result, they not only lose the same attention of potential players, but also cause fair indignation among most of them.
