The fact is that in such comfortable tropical conditions, the plants have fierce competition. Sunlight is hidden by the crowns of powerful, age-old trees. Their strong roots pump out all useful resources from the soil - water, minerals. In such conditions, it is extremely difficult for a new sprout to break through. But the ficus stranglers found a way out. Their seeds initially fall on the crowns of trees, where there is a lot of light. There they start their shoots. They grow slowly at first. But as they grow, their roots go down to the very ground, twine around the trunk of the host tree. And as soon as they get to the ground, the growth rate doubles. Everything! The days of the tree carrier are numbered. Now the trunk cannot grow wide, as it is entwined with a ficus tree and it squeezes it in its hot embrace.
