10 years ago, not all universities trained developers for the market. I studied exactly where everything was good with the base, but bad with modern technologies, and upon graduation I could not find myself in IT. For almost 10 years I was tormented by the question - should I return? Will I make a good tester?
Changing a profile so many years after graduation is a kind of “leap of faith”. But here the decree helped me. In this article, I'll share how I used my vacation to find my place in the profession. And at the same time I will share a few ideas that helped me get through the first interviews in a new area for me.
IT shnik outside of IT
I must say right away that my story is not at all a story about how to “start testing without having a base”. A little over 10 years ago, I graduated from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics of Voronezh State University with a degree in mathematician-programmer, so there was a base. But to be honest, even immediately after graduating from the university, I realized that the knowledge I gained was far behind the real needs of the industry. Plus, testing even then attracted me much more, in contrast to development.
