How the International Arctic Station will look like, which will test AI, robots and hydrogen technologies

The Arctic stations will become testing grounds for future systems of autonomous settlement, as well as sites for the development of human life support systems. Such decisions are relevant due to climatic changes in the far north and south.

The Snezhinka complexes will be built on the basis of renewable energy sources and hydrogen energy, without diesel fuel. Seven countries have already been included in their creation and development, including Norway and the Republic of Korea. Stations will be built in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District and the Murmansk Region.

The stations will test and develop:

  • smart home / settlement systems,

  • robotics,

  • telecommunications,

  • medicine,

  • biotechnology,

  • new materials,

  • artificial intelligence solutions.

Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nikolai Korchunov said that today โ€œdecisions are scientifically and economically verified, first of all it is in demand in terms of providing low-emission energy in the Arctic regionโ€

For specialists from Russia and other countries, the station should provide an opportunity for research on problems of ecology, climate change, pollution of the environment and the World Ocean; it will become a technological and economic base for replicating new solutions.

The conditions of the stations will allow organizing tours for schoolchildren and students, attracting journalists and making scientific and educational films, as well as developing tourism in the regions.
