I already wrote earlier that I came up with an engine that allows you to work with a non-1C SQL database from clients, which are basic configurations of 1C: Money. I think this is a cool solution for small private or small run configurations! I called it Basic Accounting or Bazukha (Basic Accounting of the Household).
The solution is cheap . 1C: Money for each workplace will cost 300 rubles. Compare with the 1C license, which costs 13,000 rubles + 5,000 rubles for each additional seat.
So, for example, a license for 10 users for Bazuhi will cost 3,000 rubles, and for 1C it will cost 28,000 rubles, i.e. 2,800 rubles for each user! Save 10 times!

As a server you plan to use any SQL-server, preferably free. In the beginning, My-SQL, because it is easier for the user to purchase (usually provided when purchasing hosting). And there is practically no need to administer it. Next, you can look towards Postgree.
