Once you've got the most value out of your content, it's time to write it off. This stage is necessary for assets that use outdated brand and design elements, irrelevant slogans, etc. Unlike the storage and archiving stages, the decommissioning stage removes content from the search base or collections so that no one can accidentally use it for publication or when creating new content. The resource is still available, but it can be stored in a separate location and even compressed to save space on hard drives.
