A stranger among our own, our own among strangers: from sociology in Data Science

I have long wanted to write a post about how at thirty, with an education in a completely "humanitarian sphere" and a fair amount of experience in my specialty, I figured out who I want to become when I grow up. And now I'm thirty-four, and for a couple of years now I've been working as a data scientist - it turned out to be my dream job (of course, if it's not time to reconsider interests at forty!;).

Having decided to change the field of activity, I read many such stories and realized: there is no universal recipe. However, I still want to share my story - what if it inspires someone?

So, I'm twenty-eight, and my daughter was born six months ago. “You’re kind of sad,” said my husband, a programmer himself. "Maybe you need to learn some programming language to have fun?" There was no talk of changing my profession yet - just a little hobby, some language useful in my main work - sociological research.
