What if you have mail in the tut.by domain?

On May 18, 2021, the mail.tut.by mail service was blocked . I propose to leave the political / legal and ethical nuances of this event and talk about the practical.

As a result of this decision, several million mailbox users in this service (including myself) found themselves in a rather delicate position. Many had the stupidity to link important accounts and subscriptions to this mailbox, and now they feel a little uncomfortable.

From the few messages on the network, it seems that the companies TUT.by and hoster.by are now not at all up to the salvation of the mail service. In general, this is quite understandable, given that we are talking about very real prospects of losing the business in principle and grabbing the deadline.

Now the question is, what to do with all this? Especially for you, I have prepared a small instruction for the most painless way out of the situation.

Step 1: try to access your mail using mail.yandex.by

The tut.by mail was hosted on the mail service from Yandex. This means that there is a good chance that you will still be able to access it (possibly temporarily):

  1. Go to https://mail.yandex.by/

  2. Try to log in using your login and password for tut.by mail

If you succeed in logging in, you have the opportunity to save (save locally / print / send to another mailbox) important letters. Then go to step 2.

If not, selyavi. So far (and maybe in general) nothing can be done, and Yandex does not plan to meet halfway, persistently sending it to the "tut.by domain administrator", which no longer exists. In this case, go to step 3.

Step 2: Set up forwarding to another mailbox

Set up forwarding to another mailbox - so, in case of subsequent loss of access to the tut.by mailbox, you will be able to receive important letters.

Attention! Unfortunately, you won't be able to forward messages from the "Spam" folder. You will have to create a separate rule for them.

Also, do not forget that Yandex has its own rather interesting relations with the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Belarus.
