Kingston FURY RAM Announcement: For Overclockers And Beyond

Hello, Habr! The beginning of June was marked by the announcement of RAM kits, which will be produced by Kingston Technology under the well-known FURY brand. In fact, Kingston has renamed the HyperX line of gaming components and made a kind of relaunch of the lineup, which, in addition to DDR4 RAM, will include solutions certified according to DDR5 specifications and consumer-grade solid-state drives.

Kingston FURY: top-level gaming components

The main driver in the implementation of new products was the many years of engineering experience in the design of microcircuits and optimization of production processes, as well as expert assessments from the client service. Yes, and you and I understand that Kingston Technology has sufficient potential and capacity to once again conquer the market.

Competition is gaining momentum when mass production of DDR5 RAM looms on the horizon, when we see an acceptable price tag per gigabyte of space for advanced SSDs (which with each new release become even more in demand and even more affordable). Considering the huge number of awards that HyperX products have received since the brand was founded in 2002, it is easy to assume that Kingston's new solutions will not only become another competitor in the battle of top brands, but can objectively claim the next title of the market leader. Whatever one may say, the success of the RAM in the person of the same HyperX FURY is primarily the merit of the engineers, production and testing services of Kingston.

Kingston FURY DDR3, DDR4 ... and DDR5

Among the announced RAM options, not only solutions of the current DDR4 standard are provided, but also DDR3 and DDR5 memory kits (their release is expected in Q4 2021 and is of particular interest). The operative will be presented in the following production series: Kingston FURY Renegade, Kingston FURY Beast and Kingston FURY Impact. There is little information yet, so let's briefly talk about each one.

1. Kingston's FURY Renegade- top-end RAM, which will be characterized by high frequencies and low latencies, which will ensure optimal performance in AAA-class games. The manufacturer claims that the overclocking potential of DDR4 modules will be able to reach an impressive 5333 MHz. And the strips will be equipped with brutal radiators with RGB backlighting (for those who love a strict design, they promise non-glow options with a classic design).

2. Kingston's FURY Beast- RAM kits from this series belong to the mid-range segment and will be available to most gamers and enthusiasts. The main goal of devices from the Beast range is to provide maximum acceptable performance on users' computers at the lowest possible price tag. In this series, we will find DDR3 and DDR4 memory modules with a maximum frequency of up to 3733 MHz. In terms of visual design, the manufacturer also provides solutions with and without illumination.

3. Kingston FURY Impact- here the description of "the most budgetary entry-level RAM" suggests itself, but no .... This series will include SO-DIMM memory for laptops, all-in-ones and mini-PCs, which means a smaller PCB and possibly a different arrangement of chips and power circuits. The manufacturer claims support for DDR3 and DDR4 standards with a maximum frequency of up to 3200 MHz.

So what about DDR5?

This question has been tormenting everyone since the fall of 2020. The first mentions of DDR5 RAM appeared in the media about four years ago, but it was not until the end of 2020 that a flurry of announcements fell upon us. Kingston Technology did not become like the majority, trying to play on the hype, and modestly talked about their new generation RAM in early May 2021 .

The first DDR5 memory references are ready and sent to motherboard manufacturers for testing. It is known for certain that the new RAM will receive support for XMP profiles and an optimized power scheme. Taken together, the new approaches should provide maximum flexibility when overclocking.

According to forecasts of IT experts, sales of DDR5 memory modules will account for 44% of the RAM market in 2021. In the mobile and data center markets, the adoption of new standards can go even faster. As for consumer solutions: new platforms with DDR5 support will not appear until autumn 2021. It is expected that we will be the first to see solutions from Intel, and in 2022 from AMD. Kingston plans to launch sales of the new memory in the third quarter of 2021. Then we can fully dig into it and test it. And at the moment we are waiting for the appearance of already announced solutions, which we will definitely write about in our blog on Habré!
