Decision fatigue is a popular term for people who make too many decisions in a given time. Studies show that the reason for this phenomenon is the depletion of cognitive resources - which is why after 30 minutes of searching on Netflix for something new, you end up watching the long-familiar "Office": your decision-making ability has decreased and your brain has given up (although this is a good show) ...
When developing products, we try to reduce the number of decisions that the user must make. The product is supposed to be used to accomplish a task, and the easier and more intuitive it is, the better. The more small decisions a person has to make during a certain time, even if they are very simple (for example, which TV series to watch), the lower the quality of decision-making will be.
