In this article I would like to help beginners to understand the profession, or those who are just thinking about it.
I said all this at the webinar in Hexlet here .
However, I am sure that there are people who do not want to watch a webinar for 2 hours, but want to read a structured text in 15 minutes. Therefore, I will post it here, in the hope that it will find its interested reader.
My total work experience in IT is about 14 years. I started with system administration, then moved on to development, having worked both in outsourcing and in the product. Several times passed the way from trainee / junior to team lead.
Step number 0. Why?
So, you were offered to become a team lead, or you yourself wanted to become one. What should be done first? Think carefully about whether you need it.
I am sincerely convinced that it is worth going to team leaders, if only you have thoroughly reflected and understood that your heart tells you: this is your path.
I talked with many successful specialists in this profession and they all say about the same thing:
Someone goes there because he likes working with people, helping them, developing them . There is certainly a field for action. A lot of work with people, team development, assistance to neighboring departments, etc.
