The birth of modern man

Although there was no written evidence in prehistoric times, scientists learned a lot about prehistoric people.

They learned how ancient people lived and what important discoveries were made. Scientists also believe they know why people migrated from Africa to other parts of the world.

Many scientists believe that until about 1.75 million years ago, people lived only in the meadows of eastern and southern Africa. Then the Earth's climate changed - it became colder.

Cro-Magnon groups collaborated, often hunting large animals together. This required them to jointly agree on rules and actions. They held public meetings about every year, where they exchanged information on the movement of herds of animals. They also traded in materials such as amber and shells.
