Hello everyone. In my last article I talked about the latest creation of BlackBerry - BB OS 10. The fate of this operating system was not entirely successful. At the moment, it is inferior in popularity even to Windows Phone. Several years after the release of OS 10, it lost the bulk of its users. Yes, there are still enthusiasts like me. But that's another story ... And today I would like to talk about the times when Research In Motion (as BlackBerry was called until 2013) was at its peak. We are talking about 2008-2009. So, in 2009, Fortune magazine named RIM the fastest growing company in the world. The phone market was completely different then.
Today I will tell you about two devices. I managed to get both of them. These are BlackBerry Curve 8900 (released at the end of 2008 for select operators, later for the rest of the world) and BlackBerry Storm 9520 ( end of 2009 )... The first is a typical RIM QWERTY model, while the second is a touchscreen model. Using Storm as an example, let's try to understand why the company could not compete with Apple. Looking ahead, I will say that this model turned out to be a failure for many reasons. Unfortunately, I don't have the RIM (Bold 9000) symbol of success. At one time it was a very popular and popular model. Even now, the Bold line remains the favorite of all BlackBerry phones for many. All of the above devices work on the basis of the BB OS 5 operating system. Naturally, I will not bypass it.
An interesting fact: it was the Bold 9000 model that was used by former US President Barack Obama during the election campaign. This made a great publicity for the BlackBerry brand.
