TSMC - this not too cute abbreviation for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, has become synonymous with phenomenal success in the modern world. At the moment, the Taiwanese company has acquired the status of one of the world's largest manufacturers of semiconductor products, and in some segments of this industry, it has generally entered the position of a monopolist. Taking the second place in terms of annual revenue among competitors, it is a very surprising fact that TSMC has deliberately concentrated exclusively on the production of semiconductor wafers - there are simply no processors, memory modules under the TSMC brand in the world. What is the reason for this? Maybe with the very uncertain status of the island, which is a refuge for the unrecognized Republic of China - Taiwan.How, in 1987, did the founder of the company, Maurice Chang, a US citizen, manage to create a future leader in the most advanced field of IT production on a technologically backward island, remote from the centers of civilization?
