There is no logical reason why the numeric keypads of phones and calculators are different. So why are we still using established patterns today?
Imagine the numeric keypads of a phone and a calculator lying side by side. Can you spot the differences without taking out your smartphone? Don't worry if you can't remember the location of the numbers. Most of us are already so used to familiar interfaces that we don't notice the reverse sequence of numbers on the calculator. The top row of the calculator contains buttons 7-8-9, while the phone uses the 1-2-3 format.
