OpenSAP or what you can learn for free in the SAP world

In the SAP world, this MOOC platform is well known, such a narrow-profile analogue of Coursera. As they now write on their banner: "5 millions course enrollments". If you add up all the courses, you can check, but this is a topic for another conversation.

For example: there was a very good course recently Building Apps with the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model . 25'000 enrolled is a lot, the average rate on the platform collects about 5'000-10'000 enrolled. In general, this is not much, but if you compare with Coursera, then these numbers are humiliatingly small, however, millions of registrations on Coursera are in courses of general specialization (such as Python), and here we have a language not even from the top twenty TIOBE. This ABAP rating is now at 35 th place with a 0.35% share. A coincidence of numbers is really a coincidence.

By the way, let's calculate if Python has 11.03% versus 0.35% for ABAP, then this means a 30-fold difference. So 25,000 ABAP registrations would be comparable to 750,000 Python registrations. A very decent result.

The big difference between the OpenSAP platform is that the courses are completely free only at the time of launch. Upon completion of the course, the free coach turns into a free pumpkin, much like Coursera's Audit. That is: there are no tests and certificates, you can only "watch videos on the Internet".

For me, the "audit" mode is often not suitable, since the absence of a stick (tests) and a carrot (certificate) significantly reduces motivation and concentration on the material.

There is one interesting course on Writing Testable Code for ABAP , I missed it at the time. And for reactivation (turning the pumpkin back into a carriage), they usually ask for $ 59, with a rare 50% discount on holidays. Last year, in honor of you-know-what-when-everyone-started-at-home, OpenSAP was reopening many fresh courses for free, but this particular course did not qualify.

If you feel sorry for so much money, then there is a method to get one course for free to choose from.
