Wi-Fi 6 what is it? What services should I connect? Use Cases (Part 1)

What is Wi-Fi 6 and how is it better than past formats

Summary

Wi-Fi 6 (or  802.11 ax ) is the new standard for wireless networking. A new format that was created to fix the bugs of past standards. By 2021, WiFi has accumulated enough unresolved problems.

  • Conflict between Wi-Fi points

  • Break signal with dot

  • Single-stream signal. 1 signal - 1 device

  • Energy consumption

Wi-Fi 6 was created to solve these problems.

Differences between Wi-Fi 6 and older formats

New technologies are addressing the shortcomings of past standards. Below is a detailed list.

MU-MIMO

Solution:  Wi-Fi point conflict problem

How it works: An  access point / router may have more than one antenna. Due to the large number of antennas, devices can conflict with each other. Such conflicts lead to breaks in signals and interruptions in the exchange of information. MU-MIMO gives each device its own antenna.

OFDMA

Solves it:  Single-threading problem

How it works:  before the release of Wi-Fi 6, access points sent data packets in turn. If there were more than 5 devices on the network, this could level the broadband Internet. OFDMA simultaneously splits the signal between all devices. Each device receives as much traffic as it needs.

A corporate Wi-Fi network can become a point of attack for cybercriminals. A single login password may not be enough. Information security solutions based on two-factor authentication add difficulties to cybercriminals. Increasing the cost of hacking is the most effective defense.

Predictive Threat Intelligence

Every cyber threat has signs and signatures. In order to find malware inside a Wi-Fi network, engineers have come up with threat analysis applications. These applications connect to the data stream and, using neural networks, analyze user behavior.

In the next part, we will discuss ready-made solutions based on WI-FI 6 for different scenarios and types and sizes of campaigns ...
