Andrey Markelov works at Atlassian on the Confluence Cloud product . In the past he worked at Mail.ru, was an outsourcer at NFL.com, worked at an advertising startup. He devoted a lot of time to Infobip.
Andrey has been in the industry since 2007. For more than 5 years he has been outsourcing for IBM, when desktop applications were still very popular. There he made DB2 Recovery Expert for Multiplatforms and other strange products that still exist but are not widely used. Now he has moved to live in the Valley.
We talked with Andrey about how to make a name for yourself by developing plugins on sheer enthusiasm, why experienced developers suffer from the impostor syndrome, what it's like to work on a product that half of the industry uses, and where technology is heading.
