Lego has announced the release of the largest and most detailed set

News to Cure Depression

In honor of the 40th anniversary of the launch of the first space shuttle, Lego is partnering with NASA to release a new set - the Discovery spacecraft . Discovery was not the first shuttle to fly (Columbia was the first, but it will probably cause too much sadness to release such a Lego set ), but it was the Discovery shuttle that launched the Hubble Space Telescope. which is also included in the set.

The set will go on sale on April 1, its cost is $ 200. The kit consists of 2,354 parts, including three new, newly developed parts for the windshield and payload compartment. Discovery by Lego also contains 108 lacquered silver pieces - more than any other Lego set.

At a scale of 1:70, the assembled shuttle is about 22 centimeters high, 53.5 centimeters long and 34.3 centimeters wide. The kit includes two stands that allow the shuttle and telescope to be positioned separately or together as if the telescope exited the payload bay.

This Discovery set is a big step up from previous Lego Space Shuttle sets such as Lego 10231 and 7470 , not only in terms of detail but also in level of detail. The wing elevons can be tilted up and down by turning the middle engine; lifting the cockpit opens the middle deck for tiny astronauts.
