15 commandments of IT freelancing and small development

The hardest part is to keep the customer when he has taken the first tentative step in cooperation with you, but is not yet seriously attached to you. I will tell you about the most common mistakes and successful behaviors in working with a client. This is the experience of our developers from many small and medium-sized projects.

Mainly, purely technical aspects, no sales techniques and other marketing are considered.

Some things may seem obvious, but for an inexperienced developer they can be, if not a discovery, then a good hint at the right time. As the invited speakers admit, even experienced developers sometimes miss opportunities by making standard mistakes from year to year. According to the students' feedback from the course, we thought to post the material here in the form of abstracts.

Analytical gap

The customer assumes that you know things that are obvious to him, which he will keep silent about, but will tell you a lot about insignificant details. You need to clarify as much as possible for yourself the subtleties of his business that are important to you: to grasp the essence of the process.

Here are the 15 theses that we took from numerous retrospectives. Our specifics are all sorts of constructors and low-code, so some points will seem controversial, but this does not change the main essence. Thank!
