For the last couple of weeks, news about the "new era of digital art", sales of memes and works of digital artists for hundreds of thousands (!) No, millions of dollars have been heard everywhere! This is an opportunity for digital artists to finally earn their own pretty penny, and for collectors - to trump their collection of gifs. Sounds cool? Yeah, right now.
Before Habra also got NFT-hysteria, so I'll write about this phenomenon slightly different angle.
Ownership
The desire to buy something arises from the awareness of the value of what is being bought. With a cryptoart, “ownership” of an object on the blockchain is claimed. But we still live in a legal world that regulates such relationships between people. NFT is nowhere and in any way regulated or recognized as a means of designating ownership. If we draw an analogy from a legal point of view, then buying a cryptoart is the same as buying a plot on the moon or calling a star by your own name. Recently I was shown an ad on Facebook for “Become a Lord”. The bottom line is that you can buy a square foot of land in Scotland for $ 49.95 and, according to Scottish law, officially receive the title of Lord.
Simply put, marketplaces equate a blockchain token with the legal meaning of owning something.
