Since the fall of 2020, news has begun to appear in the media about a Russian film with the working title "Challenge", which they suddenly decided to shoot on the ISS. Examples of titles: "Roscosmos will shoot the first feature film on the ISS", "Roscosmos has launched a competition for the female role to shoot a film on the ISS."
In 1983, the film "Return from Orbit" was shot in the USSR, during the creation of which filming in space was used. Therefore, this news did not attract much attention. There is nothing new in such a movie, and, for example, the actor Vladimir Steklov was supposed to fly to the Mir space station in 2000 to shoot the Russian film The Last Journey. It was planned to spend $ 200 million on the film. Steklov successfully completed a year's training under the "cosmonaut researcher" program at the Cosmonaut Training Center, but due to the cessation of funding for the project, he did not fly into space.
In principle, I am not against tourists, actors on the ISS, if it is at their expense and they allow the space agency to earn money, but yesterday the details of the upcoming filming became known and for some reason it again looks like "privatization of profits, nationalization of losses" ...
Let's start by quoting the news:
On September 23, the press service of Roscosmos informed Roscosmos that Channel One and Yellow, Black and White will shoot the 1st feature film in space :
Roscosmos State Corporation, Channel One and Yellow, Black and White studio for the first time in history will create a feature film in space under the working title "CHALLENGE". The director of the film is Klim Shipenko (films "Salut-7", "Kholop"). Dmitry Rogozin, Konstantin Ernst, Sergei Titinkov, Eduard Iloyan, Denis Zhalinsky, Vitaly Shlyappo and Alexey Trotsyuk will act as general producers of the large-scale film project.
The plot of the film provides for a flight to the International Space Station, which is scheduled for the fall of 2021 on the Russian Soyuz MS manned transport spacecraft . At the moment, the parties are discussing the details of the future film - the script, the technical capabilities of filming and the cast.
