Distinctive features and main stages of implementation of process management

The article discusses the main characteristics of process management, as well as the main stages of implementation: unsystematic, systemic, measurable and improved.

Process management is built on three main pillars: delegation, systematization and improvement. The exclusion of any of these features means that process management is not implemented in your company. More details about each of the features.

Delegation involves the transfer of authority and responsibility to one of the participants in the business process, who later acts as the owner of the process. In this way, the leader frees himself from operating activities in order to take up the planning and development of the company. The analysis of the effectiveness of processes is carried out on the basis of metrics (key performance indicators of business processes). The process owner also delegates authority and responsibility to participants in controlled activities (subprocess owners). Thus, the delimitation of areas of responsibility is carried out when decomposing processes into subprocesses. It should be noted that there should be no more than two levels of decomposition of processes. Otherwise, the company faces excessive bureaucratization and the inability to quickly change business processes.

Systematization is characterized by the fact that the company is viewed as a system of interrelated processes that interact with each other through measurable inputs / outputs. Systematization also implies a clear delineation of the areas of responsibility of each participant in the business process. Structuring and classifying inputs / outputs allows you to organize an operational performance management system in a company. Systematization of the company's activities is the foundation for any further changes and allows you to quickly and efficiently plan changes, assess possible risks, etc.
