Is burnout the norm? Part 1

Why people burn out, how to distinguish burnout from fatigue, how to catch it in the early stages, terminology and neurobiology of the process on fingers. The first article in the cycle is introductory: we understand the terms and understanding of the phenomenon.

Introductory part

Burnout is a rather voluminous topic, which I do not see an opportunity to cover within the framework of one article. It will be difficult to perceive such a volume of information packed into one article.

It is important for me that the presented material would then be convenient to use, both for myself and for the readers. Therefore, I decided to write a series of articles, and put everything on the shelves in the amount that is required for sufficient immersion.

In the first article of the cycle, I will analyze what burnout is, how, why, and for whom it occurs (later on it will also be in conjunction with the stages), synchronize the terminology, get acquainted with the models and stages (phases) of burnout according to Maslach and Burish. Having such a base, it is easier to understand your condition and outline a specific exit plan, as well as continue to study the topic on your own.

In the next ones I plan to analyze each stage in the format:

  1. Description, methods of hitting.
  2. How does it feel?
  3. What does it look like from the outside?
  4. Biochemistry of the process on the fingers.
  5. What to do?

  1. Thomas Frank's video about his experience of burnout and recovery (His main message is to give up unnecessary obligations. This will turn off the alarm generator, release energy, and start a spiral movement back out of burnout.)

Write in the comments your test results and your experience of hitting / overcoming burnout.
