Turning art into a virtual asset: why was Banksy's painting burned?

I cannot restrain this impulse, and therefore I will start with my subjective opinion: I love Banksy's work and his contribution to the development of street art. And "Girl with a Balloon" occupied the screen of my phone for probably most of my youth. On this, the lyrical digression, perhaps, needs to be turned off.
