Turnstiles became widespread in Russia in the fifties of the XX century. In 1952, a turnstile with sliding doors was installed at the Krasnye Vorota station of the Moscow Metro. Subsequently, such models received serious improvements, including in terms of increasing the passage speed, and today such turnstiles are called high-speed passes.
The following classification of turnstiles is used in the Russian market: high-speed passes, tripods, column turnstiles, rotary turnstiles, gates.
High-speed passages are characterized by the highest throughput, contactless operation and stylish design. Such turnstiles are installed in crowded places, business centers, banks, and company offices.
Box-type turnstiles have a lower capacity, but due to their design they are also a versatile option for various objects. When installed in a row, a passage zone is formed without additional barriers.
For installation in small rooms, tripods are suitable, which must be supplemented with fences, since they do not form a passage zone on their own.
To ensure increased security of security, industrial, sports, and transport facilities, full-height turnstiles are used that completely block the passage area and are capable of operating in the gateway mode.
