Adobe disabled Flash Player earlier this year. But there were users who began to look for a way out in order to leave the plugin in working order. Now Microsoft has joined the active fight against Flash.
The corporation began rolling out the mandatory cumulative update released in early February this year. The update includes the KB4577586 patch, which removes Flash from the operating system. All components for playing animation using Flash technology are removed.
As with other updates, you can turn them off. But there is an interesting point - if you click on the "Check for Updates" button in Windows, the system will find and install a kind of optional package KB4577586.
This update takes only about five minutes to apply, followed by a reboot. You cannot remove KB4577586 if the package has already been installed. You can only roll back the entire system to the time when the update has not yet been installed.
However, there have already been messages from users who have previously installed the Flash player from third-party sources. In this case, everything remains to work. However, if you can avoid the actions of Adobe, which, as mentioned above, disabled the plugin.
If you need Flash, then there is a way out
Yes, we have already written earlier that not every company or state is ready to part with Flash technology. For example, in China, many systems are tied to Flash. And a technology shutdown in early January caused those systems to crash. For example, a service for buying and selling train tickets in one of the cities of the Middle Kingdom.
Therefore, the Chinese found a way out - they developed their own version of Flash, and not one, but two at once. The first is called ReFla, and it is a technology developed from the ground up, which, according to the creators, is distinguished by a high level of security.
ReFla works not only on x86-compatible systems, but also on purely Chinese ones. Namely - those based on the Chinese architecture of Loongson. It is becoming more common in the Middle Kingdom - for example, the 3A4000 and 3B4000 chips are based on it. They are used in consumer electronics, servers and networking equipment.
In addition, an Adobe partner in China has released a new version of the original Flash Player, making significant improvements to it. Other improvements include increased security and the same stability that the creators of ReFla talk about. An important point - Flash Player 34.0.0.92 was released before the end of support for its own technology by Adobe. Its release took place on January 12, 2021, just when an American company began to block the original player.
