What to look for when evaluating non-verbal manifestations of lying
In the last article, we looked at what cognitive biases make it difficult to identify deception. As I promised, I would like to develop the topic of toolless lie detection. This method can be divided into 2 categories:
1) assessment of non-verbal reactions;
2) assessment of speech (and texts).
Maximum efficiency can only be achieved by combining the two models. Today I want to discuss the first category. Let's discuss what truthful conclusions can be drawn from the "reading" in the face and facial expressions, and what are just stereotypes. And a bonus for those who read the text - a few simulators to become almost like Paul Ekman in recognizing emotions.
Assessment of a person's non-verbal reactions to certain questions is the study of the manifestations of the so-called. "The first signaling system". Those. those signals that are normally minimally controlled by consciousness (facial expressions, gestures, skin reactions, etc.), which means that they are conventionally "sincere". It is believed that any attempts to control them will be visible to a careful gaze or equipment.
