Experience in building a DWDM network

As you know, the work of most communications / network / IT engineers remains in the shadows until the moment when something goes wrong. Ignorant people do not even understand why all these engineers are sitting and looking smartly at the computer, reading and writing some kind of gibberish in incomprehensible languages. But when something went wrong, everyone (and especially the leadership) immediately begins to remember the names of all the Red Book animals.





So, this is what all these engineers are doing and what tasks they have to solve, using the example of implementing one of the rather difficult projects - deploying a DWDM network.





Formulation of the problem

One large financial institution, tired of frequent network failures on leased communication channels, and based on its own plans for further future development, initiated a project and turned to BCC for assistance in building its own highly reliable, fault-tolerant DWDM network.





Signalers know what is - wave multiplexing of channels, i.e. when several channels are transmitted within the same fiber using frequency / wavelength diversity (as you like). Those who are not familiar can be counted here .
