Google Summer of Code 2021 mentor recruitment continues

A new year has begun, and with it the 17th edition of the   Google Summer of Code   (GSoC) program. We are already accepting applications from open source organizations that are ready to become mentors for students. GSoC is an international program for developers over 18 years old, allowing them to participate in open source projects. This year, each student will hone their programming skills for 10 weeks (from June 7 to August 16) under the supervision of volunteer mentors from organizations that have applied for the program. Want to know how your organization can become one of them?

Visit   the program website   and read   our guide  . It tells about the role of a mentoring organization, how to prepare employees (having natural curators in the team certainly does not hurt), pick up interesting ideas for projects (remember that each student will be engaged in practical work for about 175 hours) and apply.

We are always glad to cooperate with a variety of organizations. Our goal for 2021 is to recruit 40 new mentors. Organizations that have already established themselves can invite their partners to the GSoC.

Last year, 1,106 students and 2,000 mentors from 198 different open source organizations participated in the program. Among them were both small companies and large organizations with many subprojects (Python Software Foundation, Apache Software Foundation, etc.). Some have been on the market for more than 20 years, while others have been less than two.

You can   send your application for participation today. Acceptance of applications ends on February 19 at 19:00 (UTC). We will announce the selected mentors for GSoC 2021 on March 9th.

More detailed information, as well as the   schedule   can be found on   the program website ... Before submitting your application, we recommend that you review   the mentor's guide   and watch a   short video   on the benefits of the GSoC program for open source organizations.

Good luck to you!
