Basic ideas of scientific thinking:

First: Reality and our ideas about it are ALWAYS different things.

Our understanding of how the world works is always a simplification of the world itself. It can be compared to a territory and a map of that territory. A mountain on the ground and a green triangle on paper are NEVER the same thing! The reality around us does not know the laws of physics, and it does not care what we think about them. Reality will work as it did yesterday, even if we change our beliefs about it.
