Astrologers have announced another season of divorce for the money of RU-CENTER (nic.ru) clients. The divorce scheme is primitive, it has been described several times (including here on Habré!), But it can work if you carelessly:
- RU-CENTER managers, according to criteria known only to them, decide that it's time to cut you a little, and add "Professional Antivirus" to the services. Completely free, of course.
- If you don’t guess to turn it off in a month, the service will last (probably for a year), and you will be charged for using it.
- To complicate the shutdown procedure, you cannot do this with a button from the LC. You need to write a letter of support.
With some luck, your contacts will receive letters about the activation of the service (and the procedure for disabling it) and letters from the antivirus, which cannot work until you post something to it on your website. With some bad luck, you will skip these letters or ignore them.
