IT outsourcing: how it works and who suits it

Digital transformation requires skilled personnel. The traditional approach is to build your own software development team, but finding and getting the right professionals is not easy. The COVID-19 pandemic is forcing businesses to shift to telecommuting and making traditional face-to-face recruitment of multiple candidates nearly impossible. What if an employee is needed urgently? In such a situation, integrating third-party technicians seems like a smart business decision.

To find out how outsourcing works from the inside, I talked about it with Anar Babaev , CEO of Distillery , which provides software development services, including design, testing and maintenance.

- Now this age is quite fluctuating: the industry is growing, a lot of young people are coming, while the old asset is maturing, maturing. Now, probably, this window has become very wide. Conventionally, the corridor is from 23-24 to 37-40 years old. Earlier it was difficult to imagine, the average age was 25-32 years. Now the age of those who come and the age of those who are already achieving something is decreasing. Uncle Bob Martin once said that we have an industry of 25-year-old seniors - now this figure can be reduced to 23. People from university often come to us who are already trying to build a career during their studies.
