The path to IT, memories of a boomer. Part 2, institute, PDP-11 (SM computer)

The first part is here

My programming continued in September, after entering the institute (LETI). I programmed in the evenings, on a state farm near Lyuban (Leningrad region), after harvesting carrots in the fields, because studying at LETI began with the help of the state farm, and this took the whole September. What did I program on, you ask? I programmed with a pen in a notebook, in the PASCAL language. This surprised other students, but I was not a complete nerd - now I understand that in my behavior there was protest and elements of trolling of others.

I wrote an interpreter for the PLANNER AI language . This LISP-like language was much more simple and expressive than LISP, and had back-tracking. Soon after returning to the city, I began to receive machine time at one department, where there was a SM computer - an analogue of the PDP-11. They looked something like this:

In the daytime there were labs, and in the evening a place was vacated. At first I sat in the common room, and then I entered the main hall with a raised floor, where the system console - TT0: - of course, the Fryazinsky terminal.
