Official prices for AMD Threadripper Pro: $ 5489 for 64 cores and $ 2749 for 32 cores

AMD has announced pricing for its Threadripper Pro processors. The company presented the line itself relatively recently, but did not disclose the prices, keeping the intrigue. Now they are on sale, so the cost of the chips is no longer a secret.

So, the price of Threadripper Pro 3995WX is $ 5489, Threadripper Pro 3975WX is $ 2749, Threadripper Pro 3955WX is $ 1149. By the way, initially the company stated that its processors are available only for workstations supplied to AMD partners.

These processors are significantly more expensive than the previous generation. There is an explanation for this - the new chips are much more functional.

So, Ryzen Threadripper Pro has 128 PCI Express 4.0 interface lanes, plus an 8-channel DDR4-3200 memory controller, support for up to 2 TB of RAM, as well as a set of AMD PRO Technologies, which is in demand in the corporate sector.

As a result, the 64-core Threadripper Pro retail is about $ 2100 more expensive than the 64-core Threadripper 3990X, and the 32-core model is $ 1000 more expensive than the 32-core Threadripper 3970X.

Processors have already started appearing in retailer databases. But in many cases, the cost of the chips is higher than the manufacturer announced. An example is Compusource, which priced the flagship chip at $ 6086, the Threadripper Pro 3975WX at $ 3043, and the Threadripper Pro 3955WX at $ 1253.

The chips can work only on motherboards with AMD WRX80 logic, for example, ASUS WRX80 Pro WS Sage SE and Gigabyte WRX80 SU8. ASUS has already presented a new board on its website, but its cost, as well as the cost of boards from other manufacturers, is still unknown. But the characteristics of some motherboards are known.

So, Pro WS Sage SE comes with seven PCIe 4.0 x16 slots and eight for memory. The board supports RDIMMs and has a BMC chip for remote management.

The Gigabyte WRX80 SU8 also has seven PCIe slots, plus 2 10 GbE ports, 2 GbE ports, BMC, plus 7.1-channel audio.
