The road to IT - a boomer's memories, part 1 of 3

( Inspired by Olda's article in IT ). In fact, I am not a boomer, as I was born in 1968 and I am rather a β€œlost” generation. But the kids say "ok boomer" to me, so I don't mind that label. Moreover, it was a great time (not in the USSR, of course). Powerful cars, no security theater, arriving at the airport 15 minutes before departure (I caught it!). Well, in our 2020/2021, in general, without tears you will not look into the past.

If a time traveler from the 1960s and 70s were in our time, I would sadly have to tell him that globally everything has changed only for the worse. They stopped flying to the moon, at the airport, unless you need to take off your panties, total surveillance, cars turned into "European deals", and a virus. Is it worth the opportunity to scribble posts on social networks and not see relatives for months and some other small advantages? I don’t think so. END OF senile grumbling;

My first IT memory is BESM-6. I am standing with my mother in a computer center on Marata Street. The program for calculating the behavior of freon is working, slowly approaching the critical point. And when this point is reached, the program stops by mistake. Mom is worried. This was probably 1978.
