How I became a PMP without drinking a single coffee

Plan

Hello everyone, my name is Maxim!

At the beginning of 2020, I decided to focus on software development projects and moved to the position of IT project manager at the bank.

As part of professional development, 2 vectors of certification Scrum and PMP were identified, since in our bank projects are mainly implemented using the classic waterfall approach, I decided to first get a PMP.

The plan was this:

1. in the spring I study the Bank's project management practices;

2. In the summer I read books and articles on project management;

3. I prepare and hand over in autumn.

In general, I was moving according to this plan, the main limitation that I set was the minimum budget.

In June, I suffered a coronavirus and the sick leave allowed me to read a couple of extra books.

For the final preparation and delivery, I planned a 2-3 week vacation in October-November, but I managed to take a 2-week vacation a month later in November-December.

I passed it on December 28, 2020.

Now a little more about preparation and delivery.

Books

In the summer, I read several "classic" books on project management:

Peter Drucker - The Effective Executive

Frederick Brooks - The Mythical Man-Month

Fergus O'Connell - How to successfully manage projects; Silver bullet;

Tom DeMarco - Deadline;

Jeff Sutherland - Scrum.

Each book is good in its own way and reflects the author's view of certain problems of managers and management.

Why didn't I drink coffee ?! - after the coronavirus in August, my gastritis worsened, so I did not take coffee and energy drinks - only healthy sleep. By December everything was back to normal, but I don't drink coffee yet - only green tea.

All health and success!
