Not at all retro effects for a retro game

Hello everyone! I am developing a game: its design is completely made of characters that can be typed on the keyboard. Characters from ASCII table are used. As strange as it sounds, my goal is to make a modern game. It should look cool while retaining its retro aesthetic.

Several 2D ways to achieve the goal are described in the article on Habré:

"ASCII game is a compromise of authenticity and convenience"

3D- . . , . .

CRT- / . . — , — — . , , . .

Glow off
Glow On

. , , .

3D-

Another experimental effect: tilting text layers in 3D space as the camera moves. For example, when you climb a ladder, it feels like you raise your head and look up.

In a retro game made with text symbols, the 3D effect seems to be superfluous, but it looks cool. How do you think?

In the options, of course, I made it possible to disable this effect too - in case it gets tired.

I tested both effects for several hours, adjusting the parameters. I would be very happy if you write your opinion: are they needed, and how can they be "tweaked"? I will promptly correct the parameters and update ASCIIDENT on Steam. Thank you!
