Hackathons Autumn 2020. My experience

Good afternoon, dear Habrovites.

The year 2020 is coming to an end and it's time to take stock. This year I tried myself in a hackathon for a variety of skills. The most important thing for me was to practice the skill of quickly diving into the problem, write a solution, test it and improve it. The hackathons I came across were long and short. Long ones are more than 1 week, short ones are 2-3 days. There are always pros and cons to both options. Like any person, I was overcome by doubts about how it would be, my role in the team, where to look for these teams, whether there are enough skills, etc. My friend Vladimir Privalov invited me to hackotons many times, but all this was somehow postponed and postponed for various reasons. Apparently it was my internal sabotage of this process. But in the fall of this year, I decided to try my hand and took part in one hackathon on my own without a team, acquaintances, sms and registration

Hackathon selection for the archipelago 20.35

In October, I received an email about the selection for the intensive AI program from 20.35.

โ€œIf you want to be part of a successful startup and develop artificial intelligence, join the selection at  Archipelago 20.35 . It's an accelerator for teams, but we've found a solution for solo participants as well.

This Saturday, for participants without their own project, we are holding a 24-hour online hackathon in Telegram chats. We will offer you a team that the AI โ€‹โ€‹will select. Under the guidance of a bot, you will go through the main stages of project development together and submit this project to the Archipelago 20.35. "

At the beginning of the participation, the bot really picked me 4-5 random people for the team and we started this hackathon. Which then turned out to be not a hackathon, but more on that later. The first 5 stages took place in a telegram, the organizers sent tasks and the team had to complete them. An excellent idea, but the implementation was terrible in my humble opinion. Time was given little, everyone had to accept the general opinion, discuss and keep within the allotted time. In addition, the tasks were related to each other. Our team did not understand the first task, but somehow completed the second. On the third task, the most "interesting" began. The task was to collect sources of information for the task. It had to be the date of the set, tables and other info,
