Therefore, Mentor stayed in Ithaca and, at the request of Odysseus, taught and educated his son Telemachus all this time, passed on his knowledge and wisdom to the heir, took care of Odysseus's wife and helped preserve the family hearth in anticipation of the protagonist from a long-term campaign.
