"How this year changed the life of the IT sphere" Part 2

In continuation of the previous article on what changes businesses are undergoing, in this one I delve into the field of IT and changes in IT companies.

At this time, a number of IT companies turn out to be in the black. The Gravity Agency recruiting agency and their clients - international IT grocery companies - spoke about who will benefit from the quarantine and how the situation as a whole can affect the market.

Zoom's stock has skyrocketed as it is one of the few tools to efficiently organize online calls for large numbers of people, and the demand is now more than ever.

Of course, all delivery services will benefit.

The rise will be felt by gaming and streaming platforms. In principle, the same can be said for any business that can meet the needs of people in quarantine - including the need for education, communication and entertainment.

The winners are those companies that can move most of the processes online and provide their employees with the opportunity to work remotely. Fortunately, this is normal practice for most IT companies. As an example, we, working remotely, were involved in all processes, including recruiting and hiring. Of course, some are intimidated by the search for work during such an unstable situation, but those whose employer has not shown loyalty are revived.

Quarantine made adjustments to both work processes and the emotional state of employees. Therefore, the natural migration of specialists should greatly slow down: instability, uncertainty, and so on. Nevertheless, specialists from closed and suspended projects will enter the labor market. I expect the growth of startups and product companies, so you will have to fight for free specialists. An increase in salaries in offers is possible, but I think it will quickly return to normal.

Naturally, the number of those wishing to β€œenter IT” because of the distance is off scale. Prices for IT courses will skyrocket, there will be many online courses and all kinds of scams. But I still think that even an overheated market is unlikely to be willing to hire such an abundance of low-skilled personnel. There will be huge competition and dumping at the Trainee and Junior levels, but this is unlikely to affect Middle + specialists.

As for e-commerce , it showed stable growth in the pre-coronavirus period. The pandemic and the ensuing quarantine only increased the interest of sellers and buyers in distance selling. Those businesses that had not yet gone online began hastily looking for opportunities to enter this market.

Purchasing behavior has also changed. People forced to be isolated began to purchase everything they needed online.

For a month and a half of isolation, most Russians have gained a positive experience of daily use of online shopping sites. Most likely, by the end of the pandemic, consumers will develop a strong habit of buying on-line, and in the future they will continue to willingly use the services of online sellers.

Of course , all this will seriously affect the sales of online stores and trading platforms.

We, in turn , have experienced a huge growth in new customers. There are more projects in development, and, accordingly, we are actively recruiting for all departments.

As a result , the most demanded sphere now is the IT sphere.
