"How this year changed the life of the IT sphere" Part 1

It's no secret that this year - the year of being away from home and staying at home - has influenced all areas of business, including IT.



I will tell you in two articles about what has changed over this year in general, and, in particular, in our Company ASTRIO agency.



The tourism sector was the first to suffer.



For obvious reasons, the borders were closed, and their clients remained “defrauded equity holders”, since no one was given money back. But at the same time, the sector itself suffered heavy losses, and some companies may not recover their business after the pandemic.



The entertainment sector also suffered greatly : concerts were canceled, theaters and cinemas were closed. Some artists have openly stated that they are running out of money. I'm not talking about the stars of show business, but about specific theater actors in our city.

Most likely, this sector will still be able to restore its resources, but they will recover due to the rise in prices.



Shopping centers are closed , small boutiques too. Supermarkets are opening a home delivery service. I must say, this is a very convenient service, now going to shops is absolutely unnecessary. Thus, if the store does not pay off, it will be closed. Most of the boutiques will either go to online sales or move to areas with less rent.



Schools are closing , children are switching to remote learning, together with adults who are starting to work remotely.



Stores of clothing, equipment and other things are being replaced by the services Wildberries.ru, Ozon and many others.

Study and work takes place in Google and Yandex services, video conferences take place through Meet, Zoom and other platforms.



Concerts, meetups, educational courses go online.



Now let's see what is happening in the IT field? Why are all IT companies overloaded, is there growth and expansion of staff in companies?



The popularity of digital transformation has been outlined for a long time, and the pandemic has greatly accelerated this.



If we talk about the trade sector -almost everyone appreciated the convenience and safety of online trading: one-click payment and contactless delivery. Therefore, even after the restrictions are lifted, we see that the online market continues to grow and develop. Therefore, companies should think about the fact that the transition to on-line is an objective reality of the modern market.



If we talk about services for work and study , then, as an example, we will discuss communication applications. Most people use Zoom for free. The company makes money from value-added services; in the first three months of 2020, it earned $ 122 million - twice as much as in the same period last year.



Slack also benefits. She specializes in instant messaging and business communication in companies. Slack users doubled between January and March.



The demand for social networks has also increased, as informal online communication has doubled.
