Disclaimer: I searched on Habré for a basic article about VPN, but found from the base only a part of the " Networks for the smallest " cycle . It's a very cool job, but it doesn't drop out right away. Therefore, I decided to summarize all the definitions, knowledge and structures I have collected, and at the beginning give a link to "Networks". I hope this will help other Habr users.

What is VPN?

VPN - Virtual Private Network - virtual private network.

It is a collection of technologies that allows one or more network connections (logical network) to be provided over another network (for example, the Internet).

Explanation of the name: network - the combination of several devices by some kind of communication, which allows you to exchange information. Virtual is intangible, not physical, that is, it does not matter through which communication channels it is laid. The physical and logical topologies can be the same or different. Private - an unauthorized user cannot enter this network, only those who have been allowed access are there. In a private network, participants and their traffic must be labeled to distinguish it from other, other people's information. Also, in such a network, data protection is ensured by cryptographic means, simply put, it is encrypted.
