.Using GitHub in Training. Examples. Part I

In my article " Using GitHub to Teach Students " I briefly touched on the topic of using GitHub as a learning tool, not as a learning topic. Now I want to try to give examples of several cases. I'll start with a relatively simple one, and in the next articles I'll tell you about other options.

I will be glad to discuss options in the comments and a proposal to change and supplement options

.Forked option.

I'll start with the option where you don't have to add students to your organization's account. Those. you can also create repositories with tasks in your account.

.Approximate order of action.

  • Create a repository with the name of the job.

  • In README.md

add the text of the assignment and detailed (preferably but not necessary) instructions on what and how to do. Be sure to pay attention to creating a fork and after doing (read, populating the repository) create a pull request with your original repository.

    Example - https://github.com/college-VIVT/TerminalEmulator

In the right place, tell the students the assignment and the link to the repository.

  • You are waiting for the task to complete, or rather the creation of a merge request.

  • Checking. Leave comments either to the entire assignment as a whole, or to its individual parts.
