Do-it-yourself Huawei AR1200 device recovery

An article by our employee from his personal blog. Do not judge strictly, the material is old and the pictures were damaged during extraction.

Having set up this router once from several attempts, and having forgotten about it for six months, I found that I did not remember how to work with it. I decided to write an important summary of actions for myself at the initial stage of working with the device "Huawei AR1200". My methods are very radical and strive to take the position of a baby who has gone to the extreme, so use this method as a last resort. It is simple how to demolish Windows, but most often this measure is not needed, you can do without it.

  1. First, prepare the firmware file that you have chosen for the device and it is advisable to also find the web.zip file, so that it is likely to be prepared and the USB flash drive from which we will run, in FAT32 format, we will copy the firmware itself to it in the future, the firmware itself should be with the .cc extension (for my device personally, the firmware weighs about 99.9 MB and has the .cc extension, you may have different extensions, it all depends on the version of the device and what it is)

You can find the firmware and web.zip and further download on the website: http://support.huawei.com/

  2. Download the Launch usbinist program and install it as an administrator (it works only on Windows_7, at the time of installation and use of compatibility with Windows there are no older versions) in order to be able to connect to the Huawei terminal via mini usb, this application is installed quietly without additional operations and windows. It turns out that it allows you to replace the usb channel with a com connection and displays the terminal.

  3. Next, download the Putty program, launch it, select the Session tab, in the Serial Line field: “write which port is used on the replacement channel” (you can see this in the device manager in the “Ports” tab).

  4. We write the name of the port together with the number "COM3" (you may have a different number) in the "Serial Line" field:

5. , ( usb FAT32 ) «Putty» «Open».

6. , , , , , , , ( , , , , «backup» , ). «BOOT MENU», 7 , , . «Ctrl+B» 3 , .

15. «vlanif1» «quit», «q» «ip route-static 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.2.129.1».

16. Ethernet , «tftpd32» ( , , ). « » () .

20. : tftp 10.2.111.16 get «name files.cc» ( , ) . ( ).

21. After the download is finished, save all the settings, if necessary, with the "save name.cgf" command, then make this file executable at startup in subsequent device launches with the "startup saved-configuration name.cfg" command. Next, reboot the device with the "reboot" command and go to the "boot-menu" command at the beginning of the device boot with the "Ctrl + B" command and do everything from point 9-12, just vice versa, choosing the "Flash /:" directory instead of the media, and then boot no need for removable media to run. My first manual, I tried to explain everything intelligibly.
