The other day, the launch of the Creative Commons Legal Database , one of the long-awaited projects from Creative Commons, aimed at collecting and organizing information related to Creative Commons licenses (court cases and legal articles). The project looks promising (of course, there is a forensic classic on open source - Jacobsen v Katzer, albeit in a very condensed form), but so far it is not impressive in its volume - I hope that soon there will be information on Russia, for example. In the meantime, I propose to find out about this database and the project itself as a whole from the article below.
The Creative Commons Legal Database is a collection of jurisprudence and legal scholarship that will help our users learn more about legal issues related to Creative Commons licenses and legal tools. This information was contributed by many dedicated members of the Creative Commons Global Network and the Creative Commons legal team. It's published on the public beta site, and we've been working on releasing a new version to finally finish the project as an official Creative Commons product.
What did we want to improve on the beta site? First, we wanted to integrate the vocabulary , the Creative Commons design system, and thus unify the look and feel with other Creative Commons sites and applications going through the same process. Second, the administration of information by Creative Commons lawyers (reviewing and publishing) was a cumbersome process, so we wanted to rethink it to provide a friendly administration interface.
