Cyberattack on FireEye
The head of one of the largest providers of solutions in the field of cybersecurity FireEye Kevin Mundia announced that the company suffered from a hacker attack. Cybercriminals successfully infiltrated the vendor's internal network and stole proprietary tools that FireEye uses to test its customers' networks. Company representatives claim that the main goal of the attackers was to obtain information about a number of government customers, but they failed to achieve it.
CyberNews analyzed more than 15 billion passwords
According to the analytical article of the publication, only 2 billion of the tested passwords were unique. Most users use short (less than 8 characters) or easy-to-remember passwords. The dates most often used in them: 2010 (10 million), 1987 (8.4 million) and 1991 (8.3 million) are named among the most common in the report. The use of names was also noticed in passwords: Eva (7 million), Alex (7 million), Anna (6.5 million) and Max (5.6 million).
New Android Spy
ReversingLabs has discovered a new spyware for Android capable of extracting messages from Telegram and WhatsApp applications. Moreover, the program can receive commands via SMS messages and extract content from popular instant messengers. According to experts, this malware is being developed by the APT39 group (also known as Chafer, ITG07 or Remix Kitten), which mainly attacked journalists and international companies from the telecommunications and tourism sectors.
