Geforce Now in Russian

Many already know about the game streaming service GeForce Now. It became officially available in Russia.

After two weeks of using this service, I want to share a life hack with my readers.

Let's start with the fact that GFN is officially presented in Russia through the gfn.ru website and the prices for a premium account are 999 rubles.

If you go to the official geforce now website, you can see that the prices there are completely different and together with taxes are $ 6, which is half the price of Russian prices.

How to be?

I turned on my personal vpn server, which is located on a server in the USA. I went to www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce-now and went through the registration process. I paid for a premium account for $ 6.

Then I downloaded the build for the USA, because the domestic build did not give me a list of all available servers.

After that, I logged into the application using an nvidia account - now absolutely all the servers that are on Geforce Now are available to me!

But that's not all.

It will not work to start the game like this, because the region is checked at startup, and if it does not match the physical location of the player, then a warning is issued and the start of the game is canceled.

I turn on vpn again - the speed sags and a message is issued that everything is too slow. OK!

I start the game - the game swears that the connection is too bad, but I press to continue. As soon as the game starts loading, I cut out the VPN. And now the game has started and works without problems.

What is the plus of such shenanigans:

  1. Twice cheaper
  2. You can choose servers other than RU-Central or RU-Ural, as these servers barely move judging by my tests and games, despite the fact that I have a 200 MB channel and 4 ms latency.

Briefly about the gfn.ru support service - there is none. No support. All my investigations about a bad connection boiled down to the fact that I have a bad Internet and they do not want to test anything and fix it either. I sent them a bunch of trace logs, as well as logs from iperf, which say that there are no losses on my channel and the speed is 200 mb - but the support service does not understand anything about this and claims that my channel is bad. At the same time, my connection to servers in Europe and the United States is much better.

UPD: It's better not to rely on automatic settings in the GFN client and set everything manually, because the built-in connection tester is lying and very much. There is no point in setting above 25 MB of bitrate.

UPD2: After Cyberpank 2077 was released in GFN, now it is not possible to play even on premium, because the waiting has become like without a premium. But, on US servers, all games are played without waiting.

Use it while you can.
