The UN Sustainable Development Goals and the role of clean energy in them

In 2015, the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The program consists of 17 global goals (SDGs) aimed at ending poverty, conserving the planet's resources and promoting prosperity. Each goal contains a set of indicators to be achieved over 15 years. To achieve them, 193 countries agreed to make joint efforts of governments, civil society and business. According to the UN definition, sustainable development means that the development of the current generation does not run counter to the interests of future generations.

To ensure sustainable development, the coordinated implementation of three key components: economic growth, social inclusion and environmental protection is critical.
